Your correct, sort of. The installer will be completely finished to do what Jim wants it to do. I could completely finish the installer to include the extra stuff I mentioned above. But, it would be untested and useless without me first creating the vask and vchoice programs in the V8Power Tools. The batch based installer is built on V8Power Tools. But, V8PT is not part of the installer. > >> If nobody minds skipping those advanced installer features and everyone >> gets motivated on getting release out, it could be a Halloween Edition. > > Hold your horses. That is why it would be a Super Scary Halloween Release!. Just finished, completely untested. Probably full of creepy bugs and scary ghosts. :) Localizing: Unlike a normal executable, I don’t think there is a really good way to implement localizations for a batch based installer. I did think of a couple ways it can be accomplished. But, each method has major issues. At present, it would require someone to go through and manually translate all of the vecho’d text and basically create a forked installer for each language. I may do some modifications to it to simplify this process a little. > > I'd also appreciate "advanced" features for the case when you want to > install e.g. one or two things from NET or UTIL in addition to BASE, but > not everything. Yes, there's FDNPKG, but what when you don't have a 386+ > and an Internet connection? I here you. That’s probably one of the reasons that Jim is allowing the installer to have an advanced mode. (as long as the advanced mode is not readily apparent during a basic installation) > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > _______________________________________________ > Freedos-devel mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Freedos-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel
