no. did you notice #ifdef __GNUC__ ?
Bart added this function as it seems to be missing from ia16_gcc

because nobody uses any FreeCOM binary younger then 2006 for well
known reasons.

although this has been fixed 'recently', still nobody uses or even
tests the new (beta?) binary.
