Hi, Is Japeth the only one maintaining JEMM386?
A few months ago, I opened a feature request to have support for GEMMIS added to JEMM386: https://github.com/Baron-von-Riedesel/Jemm/issues/5 GEMMIS stands for *Global EMM Import Specification* and is a mechanism for handing over memory management control from EMM managers such as EMM386 and QEMM386 to Windows, allowing Windows 3.1 to run in 386 Enhanced mode even if a supported EMM manager is loaded. Even Windows 95/98/Me can be started from DOS using the same mechanism. Unfortunately, JEMM386 currently lacks this support, so Windows 3.1/9x can only be started from FreeDOS when JEMM386 isn't loaded. It would be great if this limitation could be removed. DOSBox has integrated support for GEMMIS, so perhaps some code could be copied from there to implement this in JEMM386. Is it too late to push for this feature to be delivered as part of FreeDOS 1.3? And could other experienced DOS/assembly developers perhaps work on this as well, or are we completely dependent on a single developer for this? I understand that I may be underestimating the level of complexity involved in adding this feature. But FreeDOS releases don't happen often, so it would be nice to have this included with 1.3. Thanks for considering this. ☺
