Hi, I always thought it would be a good idea to model the FreeDOS install after the MS-DOS 6.x or IBM Personal Computer DOS 6.x (or 7.x) and include the actual core components of DOS. All the other stuff should be extra so a fresh FreeDOS install would look exactly like what MS-DOS 6.x looked like after installation. If you're using a ZIP file, that core install could be unzipped to the <bootdrive>:\DOS or <bootdrive>:\FDOS.
