Thanks for the explanation.  The separate directory is perfect, and also
logical/expected.

While the current FreeDOS is up to date with mTCP, that never lasts.  And
then we have the people who installed FreeDOS years ago, which is why I
keep getting support questions for ancient versions.

I think for now the path of least resistance will be to get access to the
mTCP copy on gitlab and stuff an extra README file in there, letting people
know they should check for updates once in a while.  Assuming that people
will read it ...

Longer term I think I'm going to add an "check for updates" type of
utility.  If it is an executable that does the work of telling you that an
update is available, it's more likely to be successful.
