How about those kernel updates which allegedly make FreeDOS compatible with Windows for Workgroups WfW 3.11 beyond safe mode, and with Windows 3.x 386enh mode, which were both not supported by previous kernels?

Note that using special DOS extenders or environments such as DOSEMU2 may have worked around the incompatibilities even with older kernels, but I would be VERY interested to hear whether the newest available kernels work with Windows in 386 mode even on real hardware :-)

Those who have too much RAM may have to tell their HIMEM or (MS) EMM386 to only reveal part of that, otherwise Windows would overflow in some swap calculations.

It may also be necessary to tell Windows to use DOS or at least BIOS file access, as attempts to use built-in Windows 3 drivers for that are likely to fail as soon as FAT32 or LBA are in use :-p Those things can be configured using the *.ini files, but can also be selected using command line options for the Windows launcher :-)

Regards, Eric
