Hi everyone The book project has been very slow going. Sorry about that. I mentioned that I took on too much in the second half of 2022, so I wasn't able to do editing on the book.
But that's clearing up, so I am back on the book project. My goal is to have the book/ebook available in about two weeks. I've posted draft 3 here: https://gitlab.com/freedosproject/freedos28 PDF and ODT are in the "draft3" directory. Major changes in this version include: - Technical editing for grammar, spelling, clarity, etc throughout. That means I made some changes to the replies, but these should be small, not alter meaning, and not controversial. (For example, expanding "RAM" to "memory," or removing wordy phrases like "of course," and using consistent dates like "1990s" instead of "90ies" or "`90s." Sometimes, some authors would include a 2-sentence tangent that was unrelated to the topic, and I deleted those. Things like that.) - I have prepared the draft for print, for anyone who wants to order a print copy of this (will be available at cost on Lulu). The book uses 6x9 US Trade paperback page size. Paragraphs are block paragraphs where they immediately follow a heading, first-line indented paragraphs after that. This is a mostly final draft. All that remains should be me writing a brief introduction for each chapter. (There is placeholder text there now.) This will be about a paragraph to set the context for the interview responses; I am not inserting my own "interview response" in the book. I do not plan to make further edits to the interview responses. So this would be a great time to review the draft and let me know if I made any errors in my edits. Thanks!
