https://wiki.freedos.org/wiki/Pocket386 Basically, it's these steps: 1. transfer the CF card to my Linux box 2. boot the install LiveCD in QEMU, using '-hda /dev/sda' to use the CF card 3. exit to DOS, do these steps manually: 4. FDISK (then reboot) 5. FORMAT C: 6. SYS C: /FORCE:CHS 7. SETUP ADV 8. do the rest of the install in the installer, but skip the step to transfer system files 9. transfer the CF card back to the Pocket386 If you want to skip all of that: this afternoon, I reinstalled FreeDOS T2406 on this laptop, using a "Full installation including applications and games" (with source code). I've shared an image of my CF card here: https://ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/pocket386/ That's not really a "distribution" per se, but I couldn't think of a better place to store a 328MB file. Might move it later. Now that I've reinstalled the Pocket386, my next step is to test every application and game from FreeDOS T2406. If you're curious how an app performs on FreeDOS on real hardware ('386-SX at 40 MHz, 8MB memory) I'll share notes in a follow-up thread. So far, I can report that FED is a bit slow to start up (just when I thought it had hung, it came up) but runs fine after that.
