There are other interesting EDIT tickets as well:

https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/base/edit-freedos/-/issues/6

just points to

https://sourceforge.net/p/freedos/bugs/264/

which discussed clock and status bar having unreasonably
high CPU usage. I vaguely remember that EDIT does take
measures to update those efficiently, so maybe this is
just something gotten lost in some versions, not others?

The other ticket is discussing ALT-hotkeys versus ALTGR:

https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/base/edit-freedos/-/issues/7

which is the discussion for the rather short ticket

https://sourceforge.net/p/freedos/feature-requests/35/

in which Robert complains that using ALT, instead of CTRL,
for hotkeys may collide with key combos you want to stay
free for typing international chars. However, as Aitor
points out, at least the German keyboard layout uses only
ALTGR for international chars, keeping ALT free for app
hotkeys. Are there any keyboards using ALT for special
characters? Maybe (some versions of?) EDIT just fails to
properly distinguish ALT and ALTGR?

Regards, Eric
