With recent builds of the OS Release Media, when the Installer partitions the 
drive automatically, it should only create one large FAT32 partition.

A change/addition was required in FDISK to permit this behavior. If I recall 
correctly, I requested Bernd to implement that addition to FDISK and he did. 

That improvement was mentioned here on the Devel Mailing list a long while back.

Unless there has been some sort of regression in FDISK or the Installer, only 
one partition should get auto-created on the current RC or Interim Test Builds.
