I don't know how many others are following the age verification nonsense, but I have good news:
California recently passed AB-1856, which amends the earlier age verification law. You can read the current text here: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1856 The important part is that 1856 excludes operating systems that do not have an account setup feature (such as DOS) and also excludes open source operating systems (such as FreeDOS). The text reads: > SECTION 1. Section 1798.500 of the Civil Code is amended to read: > > 1798.500. For the purposes of this title: > > [..] > > (g) (1) “Operating system provider” means a person or > entity that develops, licenses, or controls the operating > system software on a computer, mobile device, or any other > general-purpose computing device. > > (2) “Operating system provider” does not mean a person or > entity that distributes an operating system or application under > license terms that permit a recipient to copy, redistribute, > and modify the software. > > [..] and: > SEC. 2. Section 1798.501 of the Civil Code is amended to read: > > 1798.501.
