     But why for jump opcode used IRET (0xCF)? Why fields between
sector_bytes and total_sectors filled by "FDOS  " string (not some looking
valid values, not by zero, but "FDOS  ")? Etc.

     But you will move VDISK header yourself or I will do this for you (in
hope that you not drop this work into /dev/nul)?
