Hi!

My goal was, to view videos and listen to MP3s, CDs and OGGs under DOS.

I am using 2 Programs:
-- MPXPLAY - for listening to CDs, MP3s, AAC and OGGs.
-- QV - for playing AVIs, DivX, MPEG and Video CDS.

{Maybe somebody of you have QV (Quickview, supports AVI, MPEG, DivX, MP3, OGG etc.), it is shareware, but I can advise you to buy a license, it is a very good program! <http://www.multimediaware.com/qv/index.html>}

I have a pc, with DVD, CD-ROM and extern USB HD, SBLive! Pci and wanted to play multimediafiles in DOS. Because DUSE (USB driver) and QV seemED incompatible i used the EMU parameter by DUSE.

My fdconfig.sys and fdauto.bat (corrections or improvements are wellcome :-):

------------------------------------ DOS=HIGH,UMB country=049,850 files=50 stacks=9,256 buffers=30 LASTDRIVE=L screen=0x12

device=c:\fdos\bin\bin\fdxxmst.sys

DEVICE=c:\usb\cdrom\oakcdrom.sys /d:cd1

DEVICE=c:\udma\udma.sys

DEVICE=c:\duse\duse.exe MEM=50 INT13 EMU

shell=c:\fdos\bin\command.com /P /K:FDAUTO.BAT

------------------------------------

@echo off
SET TZ=GHO-02:00
path=c:\;c:\djgpp\bin;c:\zip;c:\fdos\bin
set DJDIR=C:\DJGPP
set DJGPP=c:\djgpp\djgpp.env
set SET_FILES=e:/setedit/

:: v I haven't tested FDCDEX, i will do it in the future!!!!!

c:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:cd1 /D:cd2 /D:cd3
c:\doslfn\doslfn.com

------------------------------------

TODO: Testing with FDCDEX and LBACACHE!!

If DUSE and an Firewire driver (there is a link at <http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/>) would be redistributable,
i am thinking of makeing an own FreeDOS multimedia distribution for
PCs with Windows (2000/XP/2003, using the Windows bootmanager)!

Bye, flox
