Hey Eric. Ummm from what I know of these boards (the nVidia's nForce2 line of chipsets and layout instructions) the SoundStorm itself is a chipset based audio processing system, all hardware based (not very simple unfortunately) with the chipsets output going out to the ALC650, a common combination used in almost all the nForce2-MCP-T boards including the new A7n8x Deluxe. The problem is that the ALC650 onboard may or may not be (I don't know this as a fact) a ''neutered'' version of the normal ALC650 because the only purpose the 650 serves is to be the output hardware, since all the sound processing was done back in the SoundStorm. Basically it's like the 650 is a mixerboard for a audio setup where there is a really powerful processor behind it, then feeding the output ot the mixerboard to split hte channels.
So the problem lies in here: Is it possible to take drivers from Realtek's site and use them with the ALC650 to provide sound in a DOS environment? As you mentioned, the Intel i8x0 -- this could be a viable workaround.
