1. Can it be used to speed up a CD/DVD drive on an IDE connector that supports DMA/UDMA?
No, both XDMA and UDMA2 only support int 13 devices. If you have a NON-int 13 device on the same cable, you can even get transfer troubles (when your CD driver and the UDMA2 DOS harddisk driver both try to use UDMA on the same cable). Note that drivers like VIDE-CDD often do support UDMA already. So if you have CD/DVD on one cable and harddisk(s) on the other, use UDMA2 (or XDMA) and VIDE-CDD and be happy.
3. Is it the new FreeDOS UDMA2, or is it an alternative to UDMA2?
No, it is a smaller variant of it. Unless you are into embedded systems or into squeezing out every byte of free RAM, you probably better use the normal UDMA2 driver instead.
