Hi! If you boot FreeDOS from D: then it will still first try to open C:fdconfig.sys and if that does not exist it will use (Windows') C:config.sys - but it will not try to use D:fdconfig.sys or D:config.sys ... However, you can keep all other FreeDOS files on D: :-).
Note that "installing to D:" does not necessarily mean that DOS will call the partition "D:" after you boot from it, but you can easily check that with DIR ;-). > trouble starts when you instead install fdos to, > say, 'd' or 'e' partition.
