I don't know, but because of crappy volume management in legacy DOS kernels you MUST REBOOT after exiting FDISK, otherwise random errors are a "MUST" :-( > \INSTRUC\SOFTWARE is a directory without '..' How did you brew it ??? > 2. Why do FreeDOS CHKDSK and DEFRAG (as well as MS-SCANDISK) > report so many errors while DOSFSCK does not, and in practice the > disks seem to work well? Because not every SCANDISK looks for the same errors (and most of them (ME, XP, Wi$ta, FreeDOS, ...) are faulty anyway ...) and the great "." and ".." AKA "dot" and "dotdot" entries are inherently useless and many DOS and non-DOS kernels do ignore them mostly or fully. -- ~~~ wow ~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sell apps to millions through the Intel(R) Atom(Tm) Developer Program Be part of this innovative community and reach millions of netbook users worldwide.
