Hi Todd, > What's the minimum partition size needed to install FreeDOS from the > live CD?
To avoid using the unusual partition type "FAT12 LBA" you should not think about partitions below, say 35 MB;-) The good old Wiki page about installing FreeDOS 1.0 tells us: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/freedos/index.php?title=Install > XHARBOUR (a free CLIPPER clone, 8 MB) needs the OWATCOM package: That > package needs at least 30 MB disk space. Other large packages are > FPASCAL (free Pascal, 31 MB), KRAPTOR (11 MB), Image MAGICK (8 MB), > free DOOM (21 MB), and VIM (consists of several packages, ca 20 MB). > Without those packages, installing all other (more than 200) packages > of the FULLCD needs less than 100 MB disk space. So even with all packages, everything still fits in 250 MB. On the other hand, if you install only BASE and maybe some selection of other packages which actually interest you, a "part of FULL" install will even be below 50 MB. You could even download only the BASE ISO then, which is very small. Note that exact sizes will vary depending on your cluster size. If you want to make a partition of more than, say, a few 100 MB size, you should consider using FAT32 LBA type. Regards, Eric PS: The install wiki page also mentions a few known problems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start uncovering the many advantages of virtual appliances and start using them to simplify application deployment and accelerate your shift to cloud computing. http://p.sf.net/sfu/novell-sfdev2dev _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
