I use DOSBOX-X and you can notice they use completely different fonts and GUI. I think they use native Windows API, because the text looks like anti-aliased native app using HiDPI. Therefore this is something completely separate from DOS and it is Windows based font rendering feature. But that is just my quick guess from what I see when I see it.
