Thanks for all the interesting ideas and perspectives.
As I write?  The problem has stopped entirely.
When it happened a week or so back, I thought it might be heat related.
However, I have not only a different power supply, but a different processor in the computer.
Were it the clock battery, would not the problem  be consistent?
