Just installed freedos using the typical recommended FD13-livecd media image within qemu, and no problems with fdnpkg echoing "removing..." and then "installing ..." updates.
Since I had no prior knowledge of fdnpkg stdout, I did not even notice the missing "removing ..." stdout. I do not think I've ever had a problem with extra white space within a pipe, but dually noted!
