There is a high probability that your display does not support the frequencies used by 40 column mode. If you simply run “vmode 1” which is 40x25 Color mode, it is very likely you will see the same thing happen. Although there is no picture, you could then run “vmode 3” to return to 80x25 mode and the display would return. The PentiumPro I have sitting here will do the same thing right now. Its VGA output is connected to a VGA to HDMI adapter. Although that adapter will support 320x200 graphics mode, it does not support 40 column text mode. However when that machine is connected to an actual VGA monitor directly, 40x25 color text mode works fine. Since, I would need to disconnect and drag a VGA monitor in from another room, I’m not going to test trying 40x15 on this machine right now. You are likely experience the same or similar issue. I had no luck with any 40 column modes on this machine. But, if you can switch into plain 40x25 column mode, you may have some luck trying one of the other fonts. Like pgm820.fnt or pgm825.fnt. Those require a different total of vertical lines and you card may output the display at a different frequency. :-) _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
