No small feat! Refurbished IBM Thinkpads are always popular for things
like this.
A lot of work went into a driver that emulates the VGA EGA, CGA and
Hercules. But I can run here old Sierra games etc.
I am was looking for a developer who want to help to help getting a long
standing project finished. This is a driver that emulates SB 16 in
DOS sessions with a so called Virtual Device Driver. But you need to
have experience with x86 assembly and using a debugger.
Obvious question: don't you have a port of DOSBox (SDL)? (I assume yes
since even Haiku has one.)
Because the DOS code gets executed directly on the CPU, which is
quicker. I can run Wordperfect 6.0a in 1280 x 1024 on bare metal and
Intel I7 CPU. But loads of other olds DOS and Windows 3.1 programs run
native on the CPU.
