One other thing that I noticed, when I manually edit /etc/ipa/ca.crt and remove the top most cert block, then ipa-certupdate starts working without any errors ie there is no more" [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:618)"
And then once ipa-certupate runs the update the errors come back.
