I replicated the issue again, and tried a few more things
- No SSH errors at all
- I could do "kinit <username>" and login with no problem, when the issue
occurred
- what's really interesting, is that when I do "su <user>", and login, then I
see exactly the issue the user see, no prompt, and no response at all
