I finally found the error messages: They are in the LDAP log, in
/var/log/dirsrv/slapd-EXAMPLE-DE/errors. There were a few errors
to fix (a GID 100 outside of the defined idranges, a duplicate
GID, ...), but my FreeIPA seems to be running again.
