Yes, yum update should be enough.
Is it same in CENTOS ipa 3.0 server one ? http://www.freeipa.org/page/Releases/3.2.0#Upgrading
This applied only to Fedora and related to switching major versions of the CA. This doesn't apply to RHEL and clones.
