Hey guys, Below is a link to an excellent article on the pros and cons of using version branching. The author points out that few projects use the branching capabilities of their version control system, because they fear the complexity that comes with using branches. It's a valid concern, but, as he points out, usually well worth it. It's also worth following the link at the bottom of the article. It leads to a page that discusses the ways branches can be used, properly, to improve control over a project.
