Hello Dan and Chris, the last test version has been published on the 2nd of September. We have got bug reports, I have fixed the most of them until the middle of September. But because Dan has a role of the project leader until the final release of the 0.9.0 and Chris has a role of the project manager, I do not produce the new version until you give me a sign.
Because I have fixed every reported issue I could fix and I do not see any movements in the project during the last weeks, I ask for permission to publish the next test version. What do you think? In the last part of my mail I write the status of issues raised by Dan in his review from the 14th of September: > FOLDING_MARK_COLOR. The color of the folding mark should match the > color of the edge, which it does not. Compare to version 0.8.0. > Versions: Beta13. Fixed > OPTION_OLD_ROUTING_OF_ROOT_EDGES. There should be a user option to > let the root edges be routed just like they were in 0.8.0. The new > routing, though looking good on maps with a small number of children, > looks poor on maps with a high number of children, as seen in the > documentation map of FreeMind. Versions: Beta13. I could implement the requested change if Chris support it, because I have written the current implementation of the map layout components. But I still wait for Chris seconding or rejecting the request. > FEEDBACK_ON_CONVERSION. When converting an old map from the 0.8.0 > format into the 0.9.0 format, (a) user gets no option to reject the > conversion, and (b) there is no progress bar, which would be rather > valuable, as the process of conversion takes long on large maps > having around 10 MB. Versions: Beta13. As we have agreed that I do not modify the parts programmed by Chris in order to reduce the probability of introducing new bugs, I may not implement this request. Further I do not understand what should happen if the user rejects the conversion, and if the question should be asked on opening or on the first save. Finally I have never seen that the conversion would take too much time, so that I do not see the need of the additional progress bar. > SCROLL_WHEEL_IN_BROWSE_MODE. In browse mode, scroll wheel does not > work. Versions: Beta13. SCROLL_WHEEL_IN_FILE_MODE. In file mode, > scroll wheel does not work. Versions: Beta13. > > SCROLL_WHEEL_IMPROVEMENT. Changing the two constants for scroll wheel > to the values of 1 and 80 makes the scroll wheel experience > pleasant, similar to the one in Firefox. > > OPTION_INVISIBILITY_OF_NOTE_WINDOW. There should be a user option to > hide the note window completely, matching the look of 0.8.0. > Versions: Beta13. > > OPTION_NO_TAB. There should be an option not to use tabs for document > browsing, so that the look is as minimalistic as in 0.8.0. Tabs can > be enabled by default though. Versions: Beta13. As we have agreed that I do not modify the parts programmed by Chris in order to reduce the probability of introducing new bugs, I may not implement this request.
