Hi,

OVERVIEW
=========

I have seen that you have in a way implemented my proposal for scroll
wheel improvement in 0.9.0 beta 15, by turning the parameter with the
value of 4 into a user option. The path of the user option is:
Preferences > Behavior > Mouse Wheel > Velocity.

However, increasing the value of that parameter does not really
improve the user experience with the mouse wheel to the degree, at
which it feels like in Firefox or other application.

In

I have proposed:

> SCROLL_WHEEL_IMPROVEMENT. Changing the two constants for scroll wheel to the
> values
> of 1 and 80 makes the scroll wheel > experience pleasant, similar to the one
> in Firefox.

Let me now suggest one of the following:

PROPOSAL
=========

Proposal 1: Set the number of skips to 1, letting the pixel size of
that single skip be customizable. In detail: let there be only one
skip, by 80 pixels, or whatever value user sets, up to 160 pixels.
Having 1 skip by 80 pixels renders the Firefox experience of scroll
wheel on Windows Vista; 1 skip by 160 pixels is still an interesting
setting, for me anyway, so there is no reason to tie user's hands in
this regard.

Proposal 2: Make both scroll wheel constants customizable, removing
the upper limit of 50; see also proposal 2. Please, do not tie user's
hand beyond what is required for preventing her from accidentally
losing her work.

TEXTS
=====

As regards the title of the new option, let us replace "Velocity" with
"Speed", as "speed" is a plain English synonym for "velocity" AFAIK.

Also, "Mouse wheel" should read "Mouse Wheel" in the preferences dialog.

Best regards,
Dan
