Hello Chris, In this letter I would like to announce that I am going to end my active participation in the development of FreeMind and start a fork project named Freeplane in about 6 weeks.
We have been working as a FreeMind team together since 2003. We have overcome many challenges. We have strongly increased quality of this unbelievably useful and popular product. And now you are holding the project in your hands. As I realized that our concepts of the project management, goals and future on one side and our understanding of team play on the other side are quite different and not full compatible, I made a difficult decision to start a fork project, where I want to achieve better results for the freemind users. This new project aims for * a development process with a much shorter release cycle, * a dialog with the community where every voice is heard, * bigger project team, * re-factored modular architecture. In the last months I concentrated my efforts on reading the FreeMind bug reports and fixing the bugs in order to leave the project in a best possible condition. Currently I am not aware of any significant bugs on my side. I also produced the stable release of SimlpyHTML which can be downloaded from the SimlpyHTML project page with complete source code and updated the SimplyHTML.jar in FreeMind CVS. So I think that now I can reduce or even finish my work on the FreeMind and focus myself on the new project. I think that you decide whether I should completely leave the FreeMind team or only get off my developer role. I still stay at your disposal in the case of any questions, even when not actively contributing to the freemind development. And if you want me to do some jobs in the coming weeks, just let me know, what tasks should be completed before I leave. So I want to thank you very much for our past cooperation. I wish you to take much pleasure as a lead and developer and in doing good job.
