I use CVS a lot, but I've not tried to do what you're doing, although it
seems to me that it would be a fairly common request. (I just trust all
cvs users with my entire respository). It seems to me that if you could do
this, it should be on a per module level, which really shouldn't be a
problem, since docs should be another module anyhow. However, if you can't
do it, it only means that you'll have to make a separate repository, which
isn't that big deal, but seems like it should be unnecessary.
Aside: From a quick overview of the CVS manual, it seems that this is not
possible, so you'll have to make a separate repository. Ugh. OTOH, people
who only have write access because of docs, for example, can't really
accidentally 'whack' your CVS sources, since, well, it's CVS.
