That's the goal of plex86, but it doesn't do this quite yet.

I'm working on booting Linux in plex86 now.  Found some bugs,
and am tracking down a big one (hangs the machine) now.

I powered down/up my machine so many times due to the latest
bug hanging my machine, that I torched my power supply.
I heard a big intermittent loud clapping noise, accompanied
by a flash of light and some sparks flying out the back of
the power supply vent holes!!!

Nobody ever told me in college that I should program kernel
modules with a fire extinguisher nearby. :^)
