After following the recent heated debate over whether and
how to protect node operator anonymity, I thought I'd
suggest creating a new contrib/ project: a new transport
layer that could be used by Freenet instead of tcp.
I'm imagining something that would sit on top of tcp and
could add additional layers of hiding (like Ian's shadow
nodes or simply node clusters), or features like
steganography. So, instead of tcp/1.2.3.4:1234 for
a DataSource, you might see anon/<VARIOUS MAGIC NUMBERS>.
Instead of branching Fred to add a lot of paranoia features,
maybe these could all be handled in the new transport layer
which could just be plugged into Fred. Plus, it could be
used for stuff other than Freenet.
Still a very undeveloped idea..
