Welcome Rob,
Dr. Chason Hayes is managing the clinical coding and will be
getting with you on that.
Our goals for billing have been redefined into near-term and
long-term.
Long-term: Integrated billing and electronic filing.
Near-term: Interface to existing systems.
The reasons for the change in the near-term goal is because:
1) Most offices already have some type of electronic
billing/insurance application in place.
Therefore they have a great deal of labor invested in patient
demographics entry.
2) The Zope/Python combination make it fairly straight forward to
build interfaces to most major databases.
This allows us to reuse the demographics data from the
existing system. Saving the practice many hours of data entry.
3) It allows us to concentrate on a better electronic health
record.
