There is a bug in Zope 2.3.1 Final that prevents FreePM from write most of it's objects to disk. Stay with 2.3.0 or 2.3.1b2 The bug has been fixed in the Zope CVS 2.3 tree, so if you want to run the CVS version it should be okay.
