Hello Tim,
I know that you have been looking at several commerical models, but this is
one that could work pretty well. A large three-letter medical software
company hosts many sites from the huge data center.
A Free-PM hosting service that hosts both production services as well as
development services would be quite doable on a small S/390 machine. I
don't know if you have already thought of that or was just looking to take
FreePM to the ultimate geek level.
"Yeah, my medical software runs in 41,400 virtual machines, how about
yours!" The was the exact number of images that was run under Test Plan
Charlie as an experiment to see what kinds of limits might be found on S/390
machine. Test Plan Omega pushed the wall at over 97K images before it
started to thrash the huge zSeries machine that it being hosted on.
Please keep us informed as to the results of your FreePM test on Big Iron.
