Are either of those called GNU make? If not, why are you wasting
your time with them?

At the risk of sounding like an a**hole: Have you tried downloading
and installing GNU make from the given URL? That really might be a
step towards solving the problem.
When error messages are printed, it usually means that you should
read them, and act on them.
