  If you're using Auth-Type := LDAP, then it's a bug in the LDAP
server code.  The ldap authentication routines just do an ldap bind,
with the password supplied in the packet.

  The normal (Auth-Type := Local) password checking routines fail if
the given password isn't exactly what you've specified.
