I'm investigating FreeRadius for possibly using it in our department.
First, i have to say i'm impressed with its large number of authentication mechanisms. Which gave me an idea... Is it possible to use FreeRadius with MySQL to do only authorization (i see the authorization requests sent via SQL are fully customisable, which is excellent), but do the actual authentication via Radius proxy? I would like to make FreeRadius forward all authentication requests to our existing authentication engine (which looks like a Radius server from outside), but do the actual authorization in FreeRadius via SQL (and maybe also the accounting). It looks like such a cool idea... I already searched the documentation and FAQ, but didn't find any clue. -- Florin Andrei "Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world.
