hello!

this seems to be another problem (nothing to do with sql). try to start
your radius server in the debug mode (-s -xxyz) and see if the problem
persists (and if, what's the point). alternatively check the
radiusd.conf for the information with which user-rights you start your
server.

most probably your server doesn't have enough rights to read your shadow
password file. this is needed by the unix-module. if you do not plan to
use this module, first try to disable password-caching of this module
(this will probably solve the problem) and then to deactivate its usage
in the author., authen. and accounting sections at the end of the file.
