Hello, I've looked through archives, but could not find any information on the following topic:
I have users logged into the network via some ISP, which using RADIUS. Is there any possibility (I couldn't find it in the RFC) to access login name of the user given the IP address assigned by that ISP? I mean, is there any standard to access such information, or rather - I must negotiate this with the ISP and establish some proprietary protocol? Also, if this is not possible using radius, are you aware of any other ways of getting this information? I'd envision the following solution: the user dials in, gets IP address from ISP. This requires password authorization. Now, since he has succesfully logged (and I trust that ISP, of course!), I wouldn't require the authorization on my, let us say, telnet service or something similar. Instead, I'd query the incoming connection (specifically: it's IP source address) at ISP and check, who has logged in and - if successful - grant the access without prompting for password. Thanks a lot, Marek. ps. I am not subscribed to the list, so please - mail me the copy of the letter. My address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
