Hi Guys,

first, just a breif idea about the environment I wanted to use radius in:

A Linux box doing packet filtering and internally maintaing the byte counters per port/application and per ip/macaddress. If any user is inactive for a specified time, log the byte counters. Session start is assumed when first packet is received and will be authenticated.
I want to use radius for logging, because of authentication, session-maintaining (time limits, timeouts etc.)

So first of all, is it a good thing to use radius in this environment ? or do I have some other open source alternate ?

If radius to be used, then how can I send the per port/application attributes to the radious server on session end ?

I am ready to go through pain of modifying the code (if needed so). Currently I am doing testing on freeradius 0.5.

Thannks in advance.
