Hello, Chris Parker will probably be able to give the best answer to this, but the problem may be common, so if anyone has any ideas, please advise.
It seems that certain StarNet radius servers are sending me accounting packets in sets of threes. They are each 2 seconds apart. For example, when someone logs on, I get 3 Accounting Starts (2 seconds apart), and then the same thing happens with the Stops. Everything still works fine, so it's not a big issue, I was just wanting to make sure that there isn't something wrong on my end. It does cause the logs to be 3 times bigger than normal when this happens, but other than that, no biggie. I also noticed that the radius.log usually shows this when it happens too: Wed Apr 24 19:24:46 2002 : Auth: Login OK: [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] (from nas shortname port 1029 cli 5555551212) Wed Apr 24 19:24:49 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 1029 duplicate Wed Apr 24 19:24:51 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 1029 duplicate Any ideas why the NAS is recognized on the first entry, but UNKNOWN on the second 2 entries? Sometimes it is worse and looks like this: Tue Apr 23 22:35:25 2002 : Auth: Login OK: [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] (from nas shortname port 3 cli 5555551212) Tue Apr 23 22:35:33 2002 : Error: Dropping duplicate authentication packet from client shortname:1646 - ID: 1 Tue Apr 23 22:35:33 2002 : Error: Dropping duplicate authentication packet from client shortname:1646 - ID: 2 Tue Apr 23 22:35:33 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 3 duplicate Tue Apr 23 22:35:33 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 3 duplicate Tue Apr 23 22:35:33 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 3 duplicate Tue Apr 23 22:35:41 2002 : Error: Dropping duplicate authentication packet from client shortname:1646 - ID: 6 Tue Apr 23 22:35:41 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 3 duplicate Tue Apr 23 22:35:41 2002 : Info: Accounting: login: entry for NAS UNKNOWN-NAS port 3 duplicate So, I guess it looks like duplicate authentication packets come in sometimes too? weird btw, I'm not receiving this directly from the StarNet radius, it is being proxied to me. This only occurs when a customer dials into certain locations on the StarNet network though. Other StarNet locations and all other networks that I carry are working completely normal. Thanks!
