Darren, I'm not exactly certain how your requirements could be met (gracefully) using hints. However, take a look at doc/configurable_failover. You should be able to use multiple instances of the realm module to simultaneously support both a prefix and suffix realm. I'm not sure how graceful *this* solution is either, and your mileage may vary.
