You'll really want to install the Sun Developer tools, so that you have
/usr/ccs/bin/*  ( you should also make sure that /usr/ccs/bin appears in
your path *before* /usr/local/bin ).

Sun's linker and assembler do a much nicer job than the Gnu assembler.

The developer package is *not* the same thing as Sun's Compiler suite,
which costs money.  The developer tools are part of the standard Sun
installation.

You'll definitely want to use Sun's tools over the GCC tools where
possible, with the exception of the actual compiler.
