In order to block the 'delivery failed' reports that get sent to the list when some Outlook virus fakes a message with as envelope-sender the address of this list, I added an extra check to the filter that is run in front of the normal list software. It drops all mail with an empty envelope-sender and envelope-senders that match /mailer-daemon@/i. That way misdirected delivery reports don't spam the list anymore.
However it turned out that the configuration of the exim MTA was also changed in the mean time so that it didn't add a Return-Path: header (the envelope-sender information) to message piped to the list filter. So the filter though the envelope-sender was empty and dropped all messages to the list since mondaymorning (UTC). If you read this, this should now be fixed. My apologies, I'm doing my best to keep the list as clean as possible, but I do make mistakes sometimes, alas. Mike. -- They all laughed when I said I wanted to build a joke-telling machine.
