The EAP-Identity for MD5 is typed in by you and is independent of the Windows XP login name. Windows XP pops up a little (usually yellow) bubble in the system tray demanding to type in your credentials. when you click on this bubble you are presented a Username/Password dialogue. What you fill in is sent over the wire/wireless by EAPOL.
