The password is encrypted in between the NAS and the RADIUS server, so one of the following choices apply: - the Windows box is adding the extra byte - the NAS is adding the extra byte - FreeRADIUS has a bug, and sees something which doesn't exist If the extra byte was random, then I would say it's possibly due to FreeRADIUS.
