are there ANY packets arriving at the radius server from your AP? what authentication method exactly do you mean? the User-Password attribute is not obligatory. e.g. consider using EAP-MD5 based auth, it will never appear. the auth data is transported in the EAP-Message attributes instead. so, be more precise please. make sure that packets sent by the AP arrive at your server and provide server logs in debug mode.
where (at the client) do you enter your password? is it the WinXP eap/md5 user/password or what?
Well, running radiusd -X it show messages arriving from the AP. I'm trying to use EAP-MD5, and the client is WindowsXP configured for EAP-MD5 (a login box opens up when I insert the WLan card).
I can't access the system right now, so there's little more I can add at the moment. One thing I do recall is that radiusd writes a message to the screen saying "No User-Password or CHAP-Password field".
